Helpful Hints For Your Photo Trip To Vermont PHOTO EQUIPMENT: Bring all your photo-taking equipment, especially interchangeable or zoom lenses, polarizing and other filters, front lens accessories and a sturdy tripod. FILM: Take along twice as much as you think you will need. When conditions are good to perfect at the photo-scenics, you will shoot from 3 to 10 rolls a day or more. In autumn the stores in Vermont will sell film out fast, so bring plenty of film. FOOD AND DRINK: Always carry food and drinks for lunches and snacks, as you will be miles away from any restaurant. CHECK YOUR CAR: Before leaving home have your car checked and serviced and start each day in Vermont with a FULL TANK OF GAS as auto mechanics and gasoline stations will be miles away when you are on the small back roads TRESPASSING: Most of the photo-scenics can be photographed without trespassing on posted land as you can take them from the roadside. If you feel you must go on to private posted land, it is best to ask permission of the owner first. |
| TIPS ON PHTOGRAPHING THE FAMOUS VERMONT PHOTO SCENES SNOW PICTURES should have snow on the trees, rooftops, fields and roads. Best to shoot a scene right after a snowstorm. IN THE AUTUMN make sure the trees in the picture area do not have any bare branches. All the trees should be full of beautiful colorful leaves. A STURDY TRIPOD is necessary for those early sunrise or late sunset pictures or for a depth of field scene that will need a slow shutter speed and a very small 'f' stop. DON'T COME TO VERMONT WITHOUT a polarizing filter. You need this filter to bring out all the true color in the foliage in the autumn and in the winter it will darken the skies for contrast with the snow. IN AUTUMN with color slide film, you can replace your 1A sky filter with an 81A filter and use it with your polarizing filter for outstanding saturated foliage color. BE SURE to pick up any beer cans or newspapers or anything else that will mar the beauty of a scene. BE COURTEOUS to other photographers at a photo-scenic. Wait your turn to shoot from a preferred angle. |
